129. The Best Items in This Year's Black Friday Sales
After combing through 100,000+ pieces
There’s a hierarchy of sales. The best ones are site-wide and include in-season items (e.g., Reformation and Leset). The most anticlimactic ones round up random unwanted items from past collections (e.g., La Ligne and Tibi). Some are too overwhelming to even think about (e.g., Net-a-Porter and Everlane). And the most daunting of all display ‘FINAL SALE’ (e.g., Rachel Comey and Dôen). All Black Friday shopping events help inject cash into brands’ bottom lines before year-end, but for customers, it can be difficult to distinguish the good from the bad.
The deepest discounts coincide with the busiest days of the year, especially for my readers who tend to juggle work, family, and a busy social calendar during the holiday season. You know that the sales are happening, but you may not have the necessary hours to find the best deals and, within them, the best items. This often ends in panic-buying future regret purchases.
To best help you navigate the sales, I combed through every one of them, spent a whole week going over hundreds of pages and tens of thousands of items, and condensed the highlights—the best pieces to shop from the best sales. The criteria included seasonality, versatility, and product integrity—the edit below includes many products I have bought or at least tried on myself.
As of yesterday, most brands and retailers taking part have launched their discounts; however, some, like Net-A-Porter and Moda Operandi, will add new items over the weekend. The more cautious brands will also wait for tomorrow or Friday. I will continue to keep my eyes and ears peeled and share any upcoming worthwhile savings.
Happy shopping and happy Thanksgiving x

silk and cashmere knits: boyfriend sweater, boyfriend cardigan, and fitted crew, save between $460 and $645.
COS: Offering 25% off sitewide with some exclusions. Apparently, there will be no further reductions. Only available in the US for now. The COS website always glitches—some sale items won’t show a discount until you add them to your basket, even though they are included in the sale.
scarf-detail 100% silk top, now $111. I’m ordering this. I have seen it styled all over their website and on IG (Exhibit A: on Brittany Bathgate). It had been removed from the site, and I checked every day to see when it would be back. It will sell out quickly.
drawstring sleeveless top, now $96. Also ordering this for lazy layering.
asymmetric double-faced wool top, now $138.
tie-detail cotton top, now $81.
utility barrel-leg pants, or these if the first ones sell out in your size, both now $104.
asymmetric velvet top, now $96. Bought it two sizes bigger than my normal size for comfort and an oversized fit. Also available in navy.

cotton rib maxi skirt with matching top. Also comes in cream and warm brown. Save $208 on the set.
100% silk and organza mini dress, save $134.
Everlane: up to 50% off everything. Fast-fashion brands like Everlane have the scale to squeeze their margins. Deep discounts can’t be expected from smaller labels, and Everlane’s quality can’t be expected to be on par with smaller brands.
day glove flat, now $104. We reviewed that shoe here. Also, the square-toe version, now $139.
suede lace-up shoes, now $139. We covered them in this newsletter, but this is suspected to be a ‘dupe’ of Jamie Haller’s.
knee-high city boot, now $279.

boxy cashmere turtleneck, now $188.
cropped boxy crew in luxe merino, now $118.

Shoes:
Le Monde Beryl studded leather flats, now $384. I got the heeled version—the leather is extra soft, which means superior comfort, while also showing wear more quickly if not careful.
Toteme sharp suede knee boots, save $476. There are few things I recommend more warmly than Toteme shoes and boots.
Toteme leather ankle boots, now $392.
Le Monde Beryl leather pumps, now $426.
Reformation: 25% off sitewide launched yesterday. Quality at Reformation is highly inconsistent; these are the things I love and highly recommend:
Any top, set, or dress in their Eco Cinch fabric. I’ve gotten so much use out of this two-piece set that I picked it up in a second color, now $186. Also, this knit dress and this one, both now $148.
Their cashmere tends to be lightweight—I love their striped crewnecks and cardigans to wear tied around my waist or shoulders. My favorite way to add interest to simple outfits in winter. See this one or this one, both now $133.

Also,
If you’re shopping for the height of summer, Posse offers 30% off last summer’s beautiful collection.
Great promo events that are FINAL SALE include Christopher Esber offering up to 50% off past collections, Le Monde Beryl with up to 50% off, including some of their most popular styles, Dôen has up to 70% off past-season styles, and Rachel Comey is offering 40% off past collections— I love this suede vest and this lightweight linen off-the-shoulder dress. Be sure you know your size and won’t need to return before placing a FINAL SALE order.
Some Beauty Sales Highlights:
20% - 30% off at Dieux. My favorite product of theirs is the peptide plumping gel cream.
Glossier offers 30% off everything, including my everyday go-to’s—the stretch concealer, the eyeshadow trio (I wear Jute), and the balm dotcom (I love Birthday).
Medik8 has 30% off everything, and a gift of the travel-size liquid peptides, press & glow, and surface radiance cleanse with any purchase of $150+. The promotion includes Crystal Retinal, the only retinol my dehydrated sensitive skin has ever loved and seen results with, and Hydr8 B5 Intense. Two skincare favorites of mine for a decade; I will be restocking during the sale.
You can get 25% off all Susanne Kaufmann products. I love their bath oils, and this one is the prettiest bottle on my bathroom shelf.
You can buy Flamingo Estate Christmas gifts for 25% less.

Bless you
You going through tens of thousands of items so we don’t have to… heroic. I’d never survive the sales without edits like this.
