159. The Jeans Everyone Will Be Talking About and Diane Keaton Pants
Plus, Tibi’s most-loved fabric returns and LESET gives its best basics a very good August palette
The only newness, sales, and restocks worth your attention. Each email closes with a section for paid subscribers devoted to independent brands and small-batch makers.
Still Here’s 11 jean is going to be the next pair of jeans everyone is talking about. As of a few minutes ago, you can shop the new low-rise silhouette in two blue denim washes and army green, with a snap closure at the waist and adjustable ankle zippers. Good branding and marketing are helping things along, but creative director Sonia Mosseri also knows denim. The brand continues to introduce silhouettes that feel new, and the quality justifies the attention. Not every pair will be a go-to for every body—I want to wear low-rise jeans so badly, though they’re a struggle for me—but there is range: the Sport jean is on heavy rotation for Zoë Kravitz and Gracie Abrams, Kate Hudson has been spotted in the Buckle jean, and Jennifer Lawrence wears the Tomorrow jean and Cool shorts on repeat. The Life jean is a classic straight-leg for anyone less drawn to the more directional shapes. See every silhouette side by side in the Denim Library.
Apiece Apart makes some of the best pants, and its fall collection has just landed. If you’ve been curious about the Bari Crop but the ‘Crop’ in the name put you off, there is now a full length wool version. I go up one or two sizes in the original Bari for a more modern, mid-rise look. They are great everyday pants, but I like the Spa Pleat pant even more. It can be dressed up or down and, for fall, comes in a new deep green. Take your true size. A brand-new silhouette has been added to the lineup: the aptly named Keaton Wide Leg, with front pleats and extra length so it pools over your shoes.
Last Week’s Most Loved Pieces
✿ DISSH white cotton sheer top ✿ Donni silk taffeta cargo pants ✿ Freda Salvador mesh flats ✿ Tibi crispy nylon shorts ✿ J.Crew pearl shell buttons cardigan ✿ LESET Arielle City shorts
Tibi’s new fall arrivals have landed and, as usual, there are too many great pieces to call out, so let’s focus on bottoms (your favorite!) in midseason fabrications (it’s the first week of August, for pity’s sake!). Tibi customers will not shut up about how comfortable Feather Weight Viscose Neoprene is, and these shorts feel like pajamas but look somehow evening-y. For the full monochromatic look, you have options: a slim tee, a baseball tee, or a long-sleeved tee with removable shoulder pads. I’m obsessed with my Tibi side-drape skirt from last season, so I’ll take anything side-drape they release. These shorts are hot. The drape on these culottes is how Tibi does feminine without ruffles. They can be worn two ways (see them in Tibi’s latest YouTube masterclass; skip to 37:00).
I stopped mid-scroll for the graphic, almost Art Deco print on this Sir silk maxi dress. You’ll need a black bandeau underneath if you cannot go braless. The same print also comes in a halter top.
DOÊN pre-fall collection is here and, among the reliably great lace-trimmed pieces, the standout is the ruffled silk-chiffon Nerida dress, with oxblood floral embellishments set against soft jasper-green. The Hertise top, with silk-ribbon straps, and the antique-inspired embroidered Adalie dress look pulled straight from an heirloom box. Perhaps the most practical pick in this week’s newsletter is the Amedine lace slip, which comes in five nude shades and isn’t outrageously priced. It’s an easy way to add subtle texture under sheer pieces.
You can shop Liffner AW26 exclusively here. The Pushlock clutch (I bought it in turquoise and am very, very happy with it) now comes in leopard-print calf hair, brown crushed velvet, and maroon suede that sits somewhere between a color and a neutral.
Alex Mill’s August collection is here. I’m writing this in a butter-yellow cotton-knit sweater that is nearly identical to the Eastport rollneck. I love this color on everything ,so I want to buy the new Scout cardigan and pull-on pants set in the color Polenta. Could this twill gabardine zip-up be your fall jacket? The brand’s cult Perfect Everyday monogrammable tote also comes in two new colorways: espresso brown and deep purple.

Jamie Haller released a high-vamp ballet flat (LOVE SO MUCH!); the best-selling Kenickie jeans in camel; the Desert boot, an undone bootie in soft unlined Italian suede; and the Trap pump in mustard-colored python.
Joie DiGiovanni gives you the look of a joyful, expertly messy necklace of gold, beads, and pearls in one colorful choker.
Alfie dropped its High Summer collection, featuring this loosely-woven, lime-green cotton-knit Najwa top, with a high turtleneck and dramatically low-cut back. The lilac silk Nori dress extends the brand’s signature mini to midi length, keeping the clean neckline and adding movement.
Restocked
Maria de la Orden restocked the $255 Ria retro minidress this morning. I suspect it will sell out again today.
La Ligne restocked the Cropped Satin Colby pants.
Ciao Lucia’s sold-out Palace pants, a best-seller among readers of this newsletter, are back in stock.
Maria McManus restocked the Macramé Opera scarf in champagne and black. I love it tied around the waist, cummerband-style.
DONNI released a whole Back In Stock collection which includes favorites like silk taffeta racer stripe shorts and pop cargo pants (but sizes sell out each time I refresh…)
LESET’s August collection was unveiled moments ago in a palette of rich neutrals (lots of navy), punctuated by chartreuse and tomato red. Your (and my) favorites get new colorways: the Margo comes in Rosso and camel, the Margo layered long sleeve also gets the Rosso treatment, and the Nando slim fit tee comes in dark blue mélange.
Homewear brand Christy has has made a very cute towel beach bag for summer. Each bag has a matching beach towel available; together they cost under $120 and make a great gift.
Merlette’s pre-fall collection includes an especially good matching cotton set: a draped skirt and cropped wrap shirt with a shawl collar. The top is the standout: wear it with denim or almost anything else.
Ulla Johnson’s AW26 is live, and this crochet flat tote is my favorite piece.
