La Ligne made the Roman pull-on pants in gold crinkled viscose. Wear them now with crisp shirting or lightweight cashmere, then with the matching top come holiday season.
A week of getting dressed for work in New York exposed the gaps in my wardrobe. What I’m missing is sharpness and character. Kallmeyer has always excelled at both, and this fall it brought some of its strongest pieces yet. Among them is the Magazine bag, inspired by Magazine Street in New Orleans. It’s boxy and structured, like the bags I reach for most. At the Orchard Street store, I tried on the Tilda jacket in gold gilded jacquard. Exactly the jolt my sleepy wardrobe has been lacking. (American Vogue’s Chloe Malle wore it to the Tom Ford show in Paris last night, and she looked phenomenal.) Same goes for the Elaiza mini dress, with its hand-beaded Deco motifs, and the Marlie shearling jacket, where an architectural shawl collar gives a familiar, cozy staple real presence.

Aflalo gives the new Giovan pants in corduroy the same fit description as my beloved Verne jeans: “low-mid rise pants with a straight, baggy leg and a relaxed fit through the hip.” Naturally, I’m sold. I can barely bring myself to peel the Verne jeans off my body. (I’m a broken record, but you must size down.) My newfound love of wrap knitwear also puts the new Briar cashmere sweater at the top of my wishlist.

I bought some knitwear over the weekend. It was time. My first stop was &Daughter, whose super-soft lambswool feels remarkably close to cashmere. To wear immediately, I got the Sligo V-neck, a perfect light layer that is short enough to avoid any complicated tucking. I know my wardrobe well, and I can already say this one will get worn into the ground like every little-navy-knit I have ever owned. I also got the Cashel chore jacket, which is really more a collared cardigan than a jacket. For when it gets colder, I got the Caragh, and it’s probably my favorite. It has more structure and shape than the pictures suggest. Sizing notes: I got my true size in the Caragh and sized up in the Sligo and Cashel.
My next stop for knitwear is Lisa Yang, for more refined shapes: the Alathea sweater, with its three-dimensional rib; the Vani layered cardigan, a smart take on the twinset; and the Han Fu cardigan jacket, with pankou buttons. If you’re not excited about layers and the cold weather yet, check out the Elidi snood and the Ardenne poncho collar. Both are true outfit-makers.

The pants have been standouts in Jamie Haller’s recent weekly drops. The double-belt-loop trousers spotted at NYFW are already here: the triple pleat pants in chocolate cord are my top pick. The Kenickie Blind Crease is out in black. There aren’t many sizes left, but the brand now has its own take on the “slim like a legging, tailored like a pant” formula with the Scuba Riding Pant.
Everything fringed and ruffled in TWP’s fall collection has my attention, starting with this cotton silk organza ruffled blouse and the fringed cashmere Mattie coat.
Restocked
LESET’s Margo long sleeve baseball tee in the white/chocolate colorway is back in stock.
Apiece Apart’s cropped Isolde shirt, which I also bought in New York, is back in stock. I’m not a button-down person, but the easy fabric, cropped length, and sleeve loops that keep the cuffs rolled have won me over. The pink stripe version is in the current sale, with 25% off using code OBSESSED.
J.Crew’s Luna pants in lightweight corduroy are back in every color. They were the only thing I tried on at J.Crew that I liked.
Jamie Haller has restocked both versions of the Tasselo Moc loafer, including the croc-embossed leather.
Guest in Residence’s second fall drop opens with this tartan wrap skirt, the piece I spotted as soon as the campaign started rolling out. I love it with one overlap button undone and a belt low on the hips. Not one of the three colorways misses. The cowhide brushed cashmere jacket is made for layering under a coat once winter sets in. Swap the usual “pop of color” for a pop of pattern. If the cowhide feels a little too much, the Dylan plaid cashmere shirt is a more wearable way in.

This morning, Tibi released its first-ever fragrance in partnership with natural fragrance house Abel. The scent is a peppery, green-wood built around Tibi's Chill, Modern, Classic philosophy. Yerba mate brings the soft, herbaceous “Chill”; sparkling Timut pepper represents “Modern”; and earthy, balsamic vetiver grounds the fragrance in “Classic.” Fragrance is difficult to buy online based on description alone, so if you’re curious but reluctant to commit, there’s a $40 6 mL size.
Rachel Comey’s autumn drops keep getting better. The best look this week is easily the stud-embellished, double-face cashmere-wool Lex blazer with the matching Puro skirt. The blazer alone, with shirred cap sleeves, volume at the shoulders, and a streamlined body, is excellent. The same fabric appears in the western-inspired Knox overshirt, which you can size up to wear as a jacket. The softer tailoring is just as good: the Hurst pants come in a water-like moiré, while the Londra trench swaps stiff trench twill for a Tencel blend with more drape. On the casual end, there’s the Gaites tee in cashmere, plus new acid-washed colors of the Fond sweatshirt and matching Link sweatpants.

And in honor of Khaite opening pre-orders for a $48,000 dress:

Agolde is making good on its “Not Just Jeans” campaign. The brand-new Big Cuff with oversized hems, also available in a short inseam, and the trending Low-Rise Loose are both phenomenal jeans. But the brand’s fall arrivals also make a strong case for a complete fall capsule. If you’ve ever asked me about “nice tops,” the collection has them in abundance: the Beckly tee, the Theodore tank, and the Milena Twist top. I’m partial to wide-wale corduroy. It’s rare to find this season, and it looks great on the vintage loose pants.
Pistola is also making moves beyond the denim drawer. I keep eyeing the Sabrina curved utility pants, also available in a shorter inseam. They look like Still Here’s Sport Jeans and LESET’s Kyoto Carpenter had a baby. The Honor utility cord cargo looks like Nili Lotan’s Shon and Donni’s Pop Drawstring Cargo had a baby. Okay, enough of that. Style either with this striped tee.
