134. End-of-Sales are Peaking, and a NYE Á la Française
This is EVERY BODY GETS DRESSED’s weekly edit of the only fashion news worthy of your attention.
I hope you all had an enjoyable holiday season. This Christmas was one of the most peaceful I have had. In the middle of December, we lost our two adored family cats within four days of each other. We changed our original holiday plans and holed up —my mum, two sisters, and I — at our home in Spain for some gentle healing and a low-key Christmas. We played cards, made homemade potato gnocchi, filmed get-ready-with-me videos with my sisters for no one’s eyes but our own, finished two giant puzzles in two days, and watched every Harry Potter movie in three days. There was a massive storm raging outside, and we didn’t leave the house.
On the 29th, I took the train from Girona to Marseille for a short trip. My boyfriend and I joined my sister’s friend group to celebrate the new year. Marseille, where my mum was born and grew up, is a city that is as chaotic as it is rich in natural beauty. We drank beers and watched a lace-trimmed sunset from the rocks in Le Petit Nice. I had underestimated how cold it would be, so I dropped by COS and bought this perfect double-faced wool coat (one size larger than my usual) on our second morning. On the last day of the year, we packed sandwiches from Rosso and took a ferry to Île du Frioul. The sun drenched the limestone cliffs, and the sea glittered. It was my favourite day of 2025. On the 1st, we woke up at noon, headed to Les Goudes, spotted dolphins from the terrace of Tuba, and later stationed ourselves drinking red wine and chocolat Viénnois at La Boissonerie until closing.

I’m back in Spain now, spending a few more days with my mum before I fly back to London. At 9 p.m. every night, I retreat to my room to re-read a chapter of The Artist Way. Throughout 2025, I experienced a paralyzing creative block. Every paragraph I wrote felt like an excruciating birthing process. I’m on week 5 of The Artist Way and can hardly believe what it has already done for me. The morning pages act as a brain drain; I leave my self-doubt in these three pages, and write more freely. Rediscovering my flow means exciting things are coming to the newsletter in 2026. I want to go back to writing essays. I feel a pull to opening up about personal things, and I want to be my bolder, braver, and weirder self. 2025 will go down as my year of recalibrating, and I’m eternally grateful for those of you who have stuck with me through it.
You may have missed it as the news dropped as we were tucking into our first slice of panettone, but Matches is back! Your favorite online retailer has been bought by a newly formed luxury group. Per Laura Weir, Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council, ‘we hope this next chapter creates renewed opportunity for emerging British talent to be seen, supported and scaled.’ The Matches website is slated to go live at some point in 2026. And yes, the revival includes their in-house brand Raey.
Déhanche launched their best-selling silhouettes, the Hollyhock and the Mija, in a new embossed ostrich leather. These new styles feature 10 holes and an extended strap length to accommodate a broader range of sizes. Their sale also ends soon, and they just added an extra 30% off.
Co’s new arrivals include a smart new tunic in cotton sateen and an elevated bomber in duchess satin.
Per Rachel Comey, “the line between staying in and going out is just a pair of heels.” That is certainly the case for the brand’s new party sweatshirt and fete pants, both coming adorned with beaded embroideries. In a stroke of styling genius, the brand ruched the chest of their best-selling Fond sweatshirt with their dripping fern brooch. The brand also has a motley of good knits on sale, like this baby alpaca zipped knit jacket.

Aritzia’s 50%-off-everything promotion ends at midnight PT tonight. Other notable sales ending soon are COS’ 60% off page that includes over 900 items, and the coat I acquired in Marseille. Banana Republic throws in an extra 20% off at checkout on top of already deep discounts. Alex Mill has added new styles to its sale, offering discounts of 40% to 70%. Róhe has included further reductions on their sale and added new items for those looking to build a quality wardrobe at reduced prices.
Emme Parsons dropped its cult-classic Parker moccasins and flat mules in a version lined with shearling. They would look chic poking out from beneath slouchy jeans, over a wool sock in winter. The brand also just dropped a resort collection. We love the Veneto kitten heel in chocolate leather. If you’re shopping for winter sun, their popular Bari sandal has been restocked and is already selling fast.
Toteme’s sale is still on and markedly generous. Our editor, Juno, is obsessed with this ecru shearling bag, which is half-price (over a thousand dollars off). For some reason, laptop-sized bags are often dull, as if imagination is removed from the equation once designers decide the bag will exceed 13 inches. But this bag fits a laptop and has personality. In terms of newness, the brand’s Aspen capsule features a Cruella-style monochrome lamb shearling coat (with that price tag, it is notable mainly as inspiration for vintage shopping), and a show-stopping shearling appliqué dress.

For the last few months of winter, which seem to drag on forever and don’t have the same atmosphere as November and December, Tibi’s new leisure sets will offer some needed comfort. We also have our eye on the new metallic Winslow pants and the new shapes in the brand’s signature Italian nylon. The brand’s sale is also constantly expanding and now includes personal selects from founder and creative director Amy made up of the pieces she wears most.
This pinch waist cardigan from Chan Luu just dropped in new neutral colors: heather gray, ivory, navy, and black.
Frame has an array of covetable new knitwear, like this wear-it-forever cashmere gray cardi. It has more than meets the eye, with cashmere-covered buttons and multi-colored flecks throughout. We also love the new nylon puffer. Again, the attention to detail is the selling point, with worn leather panelling along the chest and shoulders and a leather bow at the bottom. The sleeves are removable, making it a waistcoat and coat all-in-one.
Jamie Haller restocked the most popular colors (oxblood, black, brown, and bright burgundy) of their Penny loafers. The Pre-Spring capsule features a chic selection of Canadian tuxedos (sold separately) — denim jeans worn with denim shirts. The brand styled the light denim ensemble with baby pink ponyhair kitten heels, and the indigo wash with a zebra ponyhair loafer.

Finally, a lot of great knitwear is also on sale this week. This includes J.Crew’s highly rated cashmere. Their best-selling ribbed cashmere cardigan is on sale for $88. You can also take 25% off most full-price items, like the cashmere beanies, with the code NEWYEAR at checkout. Guest in Residence and &Daughter also have some great knit pieces on offer at up to 50% off, like Guest in Residence’s cozy turtleneck in ruby, and &Daughter’s Balla high neck sweater. Both are perfect for executing the ‘Olsen tuck’, the internet’s newly minted name for tucking your hair into the collar of your sweater, fashioning a kind of faux bob.

Your Christmas and New Year’s sounded so dreamy, can’t wait to read what you’re cooking up for next year!
The Rachel Comey brooch styling is amazing. I’m afraid of putting holes in my clothing, though — am I just being a wuss? 😂
