Following last Wednesday’s Wedding Guest Dresses-themed letter, here’s another short mid-week edition with more wedding guest outfits that aren’t dresses; separates and jumpsuits. I included the jumpsuit I bought to attend the weddings I have coming up. This is despite mentioning in this newsletter that I hated jumpsuits several times. I’m so unserious.

I also share inspiration for styling out the dress or jumpsuit you already have or the one you’ll buy with a selection of evening bags, shoes, some jewelry, and a layer to throw on at the end of the night when it gets cold. When styling wedding guest looks, I like to pair embellished accessories with a monochromatic dress/jumpsuit/set and more subdued accessories with a printed dress/jumpsuit/set. Unless you want to go all out. There are examples of all these combinations below. I said it a hundred times and I’ll say it again, there’s a gap in the market for a few cool evening bag brands. There are few original options and I sense no one wants to wear a rigid unpractical box clutch anymore. There’s not enough money in this world to convince me to start making and selling a fashion product ever again. But if I did, it would be that. As for footwear, beyond the matter of comfort, the more time goes by the more I find all flat shoes to be infinitely chicer than all high-heeled shoes (and I’m 5ft0). Over evening dresses, and for summer evenings generally, I prefer shawls to evening jackets. I find them more polished, easier to carry around, and more likely to go with everything. I have included light cashmere options at several price points.

I hope you get inspired. Speak to you on Sunday!

Wedding Guest Separates

I love matching separates. They are usually a greater upfront investment but they also allow for greater versatility. They unlock endless rewearing and dressing down opportunities that a dress or jumpsuit does not.

From left to right and top to bottom: 1. Taffeta cropped trousers $485 and matching jacket $545, Destree, 2. Checked organza top $695 and matching skirt $1,295, Rosie Assoulin, 3. Pleated silk skirt $975 and matching top $1,155, Dries Van Noten, 4. Wide-leg pants $645 and matching top $715, Max Mara, 5. Cotton skirt $190 and matching top $170, Ganni, 6. Printed blouse $520 and matching pants $800, Agua by Agua Bendita, 7. One-shoulder top $262 and matching skirt $317, Sir The Label, 8.
